a whole lot of newness

So finally the time had come to really give up on summer and head back into school, time for lessons, chewed pen lids and compulsory hockey in the rain..... But for me it was time for a full on change, moving off to a whole other school, okay okay it is only just down the road but blimey still insanely scary!
Getting used to it now, been 3 days and slowly feeling like I fit in, still getting lost and forgetting peoples names but on the plus side I seem to have attracted a fellow new student - he's german and slightly obsessed so thank god its the weekend!
But seriously the whole move has been made so much easier with having everyone else being so darned lovely from both my old and new school! So anyone who reads this and is worthy of my thanks, I shall be treating you to a Krispy kreme (or half) from the new bath store!

So I finally turned 16 on wednesday, and to celebrate I threw a small party in my garden. With a brand new belly button piercing, some amazing presents and my favourite people, it was a night to remember, here are a few photos...

New Bling

As a well-done present for my GCSE's from my parents, I was lucky enough to receive a Pandora Charm Bracelet. I love the idea that they can be built up over time, and of course they already look so beautiful to begin with! So here it is, in all it's glory!

I also got the little starfish shell charm to commemorate my results

Splash of Colour

So, as you can see, star and I went a little bit colour crazy, and re-visited the psychedelic sixties and ombre'd our hair! I went for pink, and star went for bluey-green. It's only semi-perminant so should be all gone by the end of aug, but i've become rather attached to my new colour crazy barnet, and might re-do once it has faded! A definite recommendation to someone who is unsure whether to take the plunge, go for it! It will wash out eventually anyway, and we all need a few psychedelic vibes every once in a while... It was also the perfect hair for our weekend spent at Camp Bestival which was absolutely AMAZING and has given me a new love for old school hip-hop, and beat boxing. I wish i was able to do what beardyman can do, but i just know that i would fail horribly and end up accidentally spitting all over someone who was stupid enough to listen.. i'll let you know how that one turns out!

The Slightly Unordinary

So as we wave farewell to Year 11 and on to new (and hopefully better) horizons, there was really only one send off which needs to be noted. Prom, here are a few photos from our sometimes glamourous, mostly not so glamourous prom.

I scream for icecream...

I guess to any of our avid fans, (I may of course be addressing no one here) you may have been following the handy little timer counting down the days till S and I's summer freedom and if you have been watching closely you may now know the time has come and the world of exam halls and indeed compulsory education is now behind us!!

Celebrations have indeed been ensuing with leavers prom last night - an excuse to dress right up and in my case get sprayed oompa loompa style for an evening of less than delicious school catering but definite hilarity (pre-prom drinks were key to the fun).

Not only formal celebrations but mini self congratulations were needed so, without the need to squeeze into a prom dress, I threw caution to the wind and splashed out on a tub of good ol' Haagan Daz ice cream... nicely polished off in its entirety in approximately 10 minutes flat..... but when you have cause for celebration there should be no opportunities wasted!

Ice cream binges or mad drunken dancing, I say we deserve it!

Plaits of procrastination....

From the designers who brought us lucky fashion stalkers the only place to shop for florals, Erdem have upped the style stakes by bringing not only the most feminine of dresses (no doubt you too are cooing at this red beaut below) but with the wispy romantic halo plaits to match, it seems summer (for those who can afford the price tag) is sorted.

From festivals to beaches its safe to say the plait is 2011's hair saver, sweeping up those sun kissed locks and taming stray split ends into a woven halo. Though it looks pretty effortless, i may hastily add my first rather shoddy attempt below did take a long while to twist into place but with a whole summer ahead of me, who knows i may master it... eventually.

Superficial Love and Non-Existant Rapture

So, where was it? This doomsday prediction which swept over the world in under two weeks, causing many believers to sell everything and repent? Well we all, come six o'clock on May 21st sat quivering in our boots anticipating our untimely end. Then we realised that, half an hour later we really weren't going anywhere. Awkward. I made a mix in all the excitement - link in the side bar.

Sorry for S&I's absence recently, you might be aware we're in the midst of our GSCE's, which means that most of our free time is spent revising, or in my case, re-discovering sims 3.

About 50% of my time has also been spent obsessing over this man,

Egg Yellow Nails, New Shoes and Morning Blues

numerous water bombs, flour fights and locusts later the last day of year 11 has come and gone, and we are thrust into exam season. A day so incredibly sad considering i have been waiting for it forever, and i'm going to be returning for sixth-form, But still with out my beloved star, who is travelling slightly further down the road to Prior Park. Well here are a few snaps of my saturday spent 'revising'...

If only you could get an A* in eating....

And so as exams slowly creep upon us unfortunate GCSE students, thousands of people are attempting revision and stressing themselves and no doubt their whole household to breaking point..... not mine however.

You see, i tend to stress-bake.

Perhaps a strange concept but it is definitely my favourite procrastination technique by far and with the filling of my house with cakes and biscuits it seems my family are praising the revision season as when i explain "i'm about to do a past paper" they know a mound of chocolate brownies are on their way!

My latest culinary discovery being the italian side of baking means have attempted to master the art of bread and pasta. So far english muffins, fresh linguini and homemade tortellini are ticked off the list but i'm sure by september i will be a pro!

So while readers you may have your heads buried in revision guides, mine shall be in cookbooks and with the combination of 16 exams and a school prom on its way, i'm not sure i will be able to zip up my dress....

Another Galaxy

I came across this amazing film by Terje Sorgjerd whilst browsing the inter web and for some reason, seeing this wide open expanse of beautiful sky and land, made me realise how tiny we are in the great scheme of things, and the problems I see as great obstacles in my life, are really not even a blip on the radar... watch the film here, but here are some snapshots.

I am actually in love with the night sky, stars, nebulae and galaxies alike. so it comes as no surprise that I'm also in love with these leggings from black milk... i've also made a mix, the fruit of my deep thought.
